Ottawa is showing up as a major player in poetry readings. Apparently more than 1000 people participate in 14 different poetry reading series in Ottawa each month.
Versefest is an attempt to amalgamate "page" poets and "stage" poets. The festival features world poetry slam winner Ian Ketuku, Governor General Award winning poet Richard Green, Griffin Poetry Prize winner Karen Solie, as well as master classes, slams, and songwriters talking about lyrics.
