Toil and succour
Since most of us are here and some actually posting regularly, I suggest we behave like any decent self-respecting WORKSHOP should and assign tasks to members regularly. Anything which is fun, participative and do-able.
Any ideas? Or do I have to come back with some of my own?
( Man! This is hard work!)

Re: Toil and succour
My bad Agnes! For the last four years I have been thinking this is one of those online sweatshops where indolent or latent talent may be coerced into industry.
Now for the fun bit. Do you remember the set which had caught on just before the server crashed? Wherein a query was answered by the rendition of a verse and another question thrown up by the one who had composed the answer so as to maintain the momentum?
Either that, or when I was running through material for the "Glossary" (yes, we might burden you with that too), I came across many terms which could merit the quill-wielders attention and service.
Something like that. Now pass me the achaar in the jar.

I am game for some toil and succour
I was thinking maybe:
(1) The 33 word poem
(2) The Pyramid - tag , Mod stop
Or
(3) the good old riddle-me-rhyme, which we have done before.
The Pyramid works like this - the first person to start, starts with a word ( one word one line ) and tags the next person, who has to add to the first one-worder with two lines each of two words. The third in the tag then has to come up with three, three-worder lines and so on and so forth...till the Moderator says enough is enough.
So, 'who goes first?'
That's the riddle-me-rhyme for ye
Ravi

Riddle-Me-Rhyme Re: Toil and succour
Riddle-Me-Rhyme
"Who goes first?" She licked her lips, then smiled.
"Don't try to look innocent. You know you've been defiled."
She passed around the napkins, uncorked the big brown jug.
She filled their glasses to the rim. "Why do you look so smug?"
In case anyone is wondering, the question you need to build a poem from is: Why do you look so smug?

I'm a sport. I'll play even though I am merely in the shadows of Agnes and Ravi.
Lady Edwina Kruk;
why areyou so smug?
Bedecked in black and orange
like a mammoth lady bug.
What seems to be airs
put on by Lady Kruk
is, sadly, the result
of a shoddy nip and tuck.

Mystery
Beauty queens wish for world peace;
wars rage; so many innocents die.
The mystery needing resolve, is
who put the pie in the sky?
The question will be "who out the pie in the sky"?
It's a bit cliche, sorry.
But I'm wilting under the pressure!

Re: Toil and succour
Star-cliched firmament alight
with a gibbous moon queries the
chthonic creatures of night;
carved countenace that some deify,
yet, who put this pie in the sky?
The question is who will be king?
-Caterpillar to Alice in Through the Looking Glass.

Who will be king?
Who will be king of the midnight poets?
Who will be king of the summer nights?
Who will be king of the words before us?
Who will read everything we write?
The question is: do you have the time?

Re: Toil and succour
I'm really not up to a menage-a-trois with Agnes and Ravi.
But I'll keep the ball rolling.
Do you have the time?
For those who treasure you,
do you have the time?
Are they brushed off like lint
while you social-climb?
Peacock-like as you preen;
priorities all askew.
Besides yourself, who do you love?
Is the question I ask of you.
