"There are no extra words in a poem and there are no extra events in our life."

That sentence would look better with a comma after "poem"....methinks. 8)

How can "life" be singular? --- lifetime for syntax, but the thought probably should be

"There are no extra word in a poem, and there are no extra events in a life."
