Waiting at the CAT scan lab

Some wit asked me if I was having my cat scanned, and that kind of pissed me off because he stole my line. How does he know whether I have cats? He goes in for his scan. They give me a drink of iodine solution. You always dislike in others that which is most in yourself. He comes out. The woman acro...

Re: incarnated poetry

How can "life" be singular? --- lifetime for syntax, but the thought probably should be

"There are no extra word in a poem, and there are no extra events in a life."

Agree with the former, disagree with the latter; it's me, too.

The durability of Zeugma

There has been some musing about the possibility that this Zeugma site will close. Not while this puppy is alive and kicking. But I do advise people who have work here to make copies, because when I am gone, the ISP will want someone to pay the rent. Right now, it is piggybacking on my site at no co...

Re: Zeugma Poetry and Critique Board now Members-Only

What happens when you try to post, Joan? I had problems replying to a thread I had started, but it cleared up on its own after a few days of trying. Sometimes I think there is more magic than science in computers. Anyway, I suggest you try again. In the meantime, maybe you can message me about it if...

Hoping NaPoWriMo Blues are gone

Did NaPoWriMo wear us out?

We have two or three new members we have not heard from. Here's hoping we start posting poetry and critiques again soon, so we can see some action here.

I am warming up a couple of things . . .

Re: Question about organization of posting for critiques

The color code at Wild is something new since I was there. I left Wild because there were some really young very arrogant people there who really got in the way of serious discussion. It sounds as though that has changed. I like Cat's idea of posting a reply later indicating what you are looking for...

Re: How to Critique wiki

Excellent. Especially the part about being honest. Honesty and empathy together work to help knowledgeable criticism be useful. A critique that says the work is nice is painful. --- of course I am not saying that a critique has to be sadistic; but we submit poetry here hoping that something meaningf...

Re: Members' Introductions

If you want to know the facts about me, look at the Bio for riverwriter elsewhere in this thread, because that's who I'm. I decided to start posting as DougH (which, if you think about it even a little bit, is kind of a yeasty name) so that the the forum administrator would not loom so large in the ...
